The international MA programme in Sound Engineering Arts is a joint degree programme between Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School and the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy. The programme aims at providing students with know-how in the field of sound engineering at an internationally recognized level.
Admitted students will be registered at both the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy and Tallinn University Baltic Film and Media School. Upon successful completion of the programme, the graduates will be awarded with a joint degree signed by both universities.
Admissions to respective universities takes place in alternate years.
Professionality of sound engineer is based on not only on technical, but also on the musical skills. Developing the perception of musical events as a working tool leads to an extended awareness of above mentioned qualities, giving sound engineer a good position in communication with various artists in the working environment.
In the music part of the Sound Engineering Arts programme, skills and knowledge gained are mostly centered around sound engineering in the context of music – recording diverse artists in the studio as well as in a live environment, sound editing and mixing, mastering as well as music production. The technical layout of the teaching studios enables students to get acquainted with the latest generation equipment. The studies include independent work, group work, workshops, master classes and an internship with a sound professional or in a professional company.

Internships are conducted in Estonian studios as well as abroad under the supervision of respected practicioners.
The programme will not accept new students for the academic year of 2016/17.
*All copies of educational documents (diploma and diploma supplement/academic transcript) must be officially certified: bear an original seal and a signature of an authorized official of the issuing school/university. Copies of education documents can also be certified with an Apostille. Some country-specific requirements also specify the way documents must be certified.

NB! Applicants having their diplomas issued later than application deadline (in July, for example), please send an application form and the most recent official Transcript of Records by the required deadline. Inform the International Student Service when the final diploma will be issued.

Semester fee for tuition fee paying students is 2000 euros. Price per credit point is 67 euros.
