Rauno Thomas Moss Exhibition “ANATOMICAL ILLUSTRATIONS”

The exhibition is a collection of Moss’ illustrations for the textbook “Human Anatomy” published by the University of Tartu Institute of Biomedicine and Translational Medicine Department of Anatomy in cooperation with the university press. The illustrations were completed between 2009 and 2019. Moss has also illustrated the “Semiotics” textbook published in 2018 in cooperation with the University of Tartu Department of Semiotics and the University of Tartu Press. In addition, he has designed and done the layout of “Tlou Rachaanad: epic of the Uipo (Khoibu)” edited by the University of Tartu Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore and published by the University of Tartu Press in 2018.
Rauno Thomas Moss is a lecturer at the Centre for Arts and a painter. He teaches sculpture, drawing, illustration, comics, plastic anatomy and general composition. Moss holds a BA in Painting from the University of Tartu as well as MA Semiotics and Culture Studies. Currently, he is doing his Ph.D. with the main theme "Dialogue and Discourse: Visual Semiotic Analysis of Orthodox Icon". In addition to painting, he has been engaged in computer graphics and curatorial work and has published many writings in cultural analyses. He has had a large number of individual and joint exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. Moss belongs to the Estonian Artists' Association, Estonian Painters' Association, Tartu Artists’ Union and Estonian Semiotics Association.
Professional awards: Ado Vabbe Prize in 2010, Gallery Vaal Art Award in 2009, 25 + 5 most beautiful books nominee in 2007, "Hypercube" III prize at Juri Lotman's memorial contest in 2006 and Tartu Young Artist Scholarship (by Ltd. Merko Tartu) in 2005.
