Plein Air Painting
Course is opened for all, no previous painting skills are required.
5–10 August 2018 in Lääne County, Haeska village, Tuulingu Holiday House
August 5 - from 15:00 arrival, accommodation, light meal;
- 17:00 first instructed lesson;
August 6–9 - Individual teaching, open-air painting;
August 10 - Presentation and analysis of the works;
- 13:00 lunch and departure.
Teaching is divided into two parts:
30 individually guided and 10 independent academic hours, via different assignments participants learn to frame motifs paying particular attention to the airspace, the diversity of the natural environment, and the way in which they are transmitted. Painting in the open air always sets specific lighting conditions for the painter. Thus, it is important to know how to transmit the mood. In the course there will be painting and drawing of the landscape; botanical, architectural and technical objects; sketches are also made.
Guided lessons are held: 4 academic hours in the afternoon and 2 in the evenings. There are also 2 academic hours for independent work on every day to complete different tasks that will be later analysed by the lecturer.
Credit points: 1,5 ECTS (40 academic hours).
Price: 162 € Price includes instructions, possibility to use easels or drawing tables as well as value added tax. Needed painting supplies and papers are not offered by the course.
Natural persons can claim refund of income tax 20% (that is 32.4 EUR for this course) on continuing education expenses from Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
In addition to the course price, participants need to pay for the housing costs and catering costs for meals 3 times per day. As well as their own transport. Housing and catering costs can be paid on spot in cash or via bank transfer.
in small house (10 places in 2 rooms) for 5 nights cost 600 €, that will be devided between the guests (600:6=60 € etc.)
in bigger house:
- price per one in twin room 40 € per night (total 200 €);
- price per two in twin room 55 € per night (total 275/2=137,5 €)
Price includes using of the sauna.

Lecturer: Anne Parmasto is Associate Professor and Estonian painter with more than 30 years of experience as a university lecturer. Anne graduated in 1981 from ERKI (known today as Estonian Academy of Arts), specialising in painting and theatre arts. She has had 39 personal exhibitions and over 300 joint exhibitions in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Italy, Luxemburg, South-Korea, France, Sweden, Germany (in Art Cologne), Finland, USA, Russia and Belarus.

The organiser provides desks where to pin the works.
Participants need to bring their own painting and drawing supplies and papers: gouache, acrylic, temperature or oil paints; papers in different sizes and texture, brushes, watercolours, pencils, charcoal, tape or pins. In the case of oil paints, canvas or primed cardboard, turpentine, cup, tarpaulin, cloths.
We recommend to bring along a pochade box on legs, folding chair, something to protect yourself from the rain and a suitable bag for carrying painting supplies in the nature.
