- Unique combination of traditional culture with modern technologies, and music with arts.
- Studies take place in Tartu and University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy located in Viljandi town.
- In the curriculum, theory is closely integrated with practical work. We also use individual approach to students.
This new MA curriculum is unique in Estonia in providing students with the opportunity to obtain teacher qualification on two separate fields. Based on students’ previous studies and interests, students can choose from and combine different specializations: teacher of arts, school music teacher, teacher of handicraft and home economics, teacher of technology, dance teacher, musical instrument teacher, and teacher of smart technologies.
The curriculum contains subjects in general pedagogy, specialized courses in didactics, field-specific courses and electives. In parallel with classes at the university, students will also start practical sessions in schools already during the first semester. There will be different study sessions taking place in the two towns – Tartu and Viljandi. The lecturers and professors teaching the subjects are all specialists in their fields: artists, musicians, craftsmen, dance artists and educational scientists. An important part of the studies is learning modern technologies, playing musical instruments and practicing arts and crafts.
University of Tartu with its diverse population of highly qualified teaching and research staff and modern learning environment offers many opportunities for students to develop their interests and grow in their field of study. The academic environment of Tartu is complemented with a vibrant cultural and student life in Viljandi.
