Kersti Rattus is a lecturer of visual technology and painting at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy and a renowned artist and designer who has worked at the Culture Academy since 1995. She has graduated the Estonian Academy of Arts. Kersti Rattus has had numerous personal and group exhibitions in Estonia and abroad, and she has been the author of numerous stage and city designs for several major international festivals, including the Viljandi Folk Music Festival and the Tartu International Hanseatic Days.
Kersti Rattus about the exhibition: “We have tried to integrate painting skills and the use of textile materials at the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy's MA curriculum on Native Crafts. The tapestry is definitely the point where painting and textiles meet the most, but the problems of a painting composition can also be explored with less time consuming technologies. The exhibition shows my spring semester preparation experiments with etching, object printing, steam-proof paper printing, and other similar techniques.”
