First ever International Winter Academy organized by University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy
University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy will organize its first ever International Winter Academy from January 30 until February 2, 2017.
The aim of the event is to enable students and teachers who already live in Estonia or who plan to arrive here shortly acquire as well as extend their knowledge in Estonian culture and our native traditions. During this course they will uncover the distinctive culture of Estonia while staying in the beautiful city of Viljandi and discover the important and fascinating aspects of Estonian culture through Estonian music, handicraft, film, sauna and food.
The program of the Winter Academy features key-note lectures accompanied by inter-disciplinary seminars, hands-on workshops and of course cultural events. The working language of the Winter Academy is English.
According to the International Relations Specialist Liina Junolaine, it is a great opportunity to enable prospective students to get a taste for the quality of education we offer, the prowess of our academic staff and the strength of our community while spending time in a picturesque South-Estonian forest cottage where participants will be provided with food made out of local, organic produce and learn about our sauna culture in an authentic smoke sauna.
The registration is open until November 28, 2016 and students can also earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions.
