Music students perfom in St.Petersburg
In the early morning of March 19, seven jazz-music students along with their professor Ain Agan will head to St.Pteresburg, Russia, to perform a joint-concert with the students of St.Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts.
The idea of this concert-trip comes from the professor Ain Agan. According to him it’s necessary for the students of UT Viljandi Culture Academy to broaden their musical network and to meet the students from another music school. Ain Agan values this particular ensemble with high notes: “The ensemble consists of unique and capable students, who make music together daily.”
For the ensemble-members, it’s the first experience to perform in Russia. All the young musicians are excited and in addition of holding a concert, they try to meet with the local jazz-world. One member of the ensemble, Kristjan Ilumäe, explains that there are many well-knowed jazz-clubs in St.Petersburg. “The musicians are jamming every night and we would like to go to one specific club “The Hat Bar”.”
This concert-trip is the first concert in Saint John’s Church in St.Petersburg, organized by the music department of UT VCA. One goal of the concert is to introduce UT Viljandi Culture Academy and the young musicians. The concert is divided into two parts: in the first part the students from St.Petersburg State University of Culture and Arts will perform and in the second part Viljandi musicians will continue the concert.
Big thanks to Eesti Kultuurkapital and Estonian Concert.
