UT VCA opens Culture Nest in the courtyard of the Museum of Viljandi
At this year’s Viljandi Folk Music Festival, the University of Tartu Viljandi Culture Academy is represented with an area of its own – the Culture Nest is open to guests in the courtyard of the Museum of Viljandi on Friday and Saturday at 13.00-20.00.
The Culture Nest features:
The students of Estonian native crafts and residents of Viljandi Center for Creative Industries who are selling the jewellery, clothes, etc they have made.
Workshops from the crafts department – “Ribbons and tablets” (weaving ribbons with jersey using traditional techniques, belt weaving showcases, tablet woven keyrings workshops, etc)
UT VCA students’ culture club Wimka and their beer stall
Vinoteque Mulks with a selection of wines
Performances by students and alumni of the music department and employees of the Culture Academy. A detailed programme will be released during the festival but we can also foresee spontaneous jamming sessions breaking out and several interesting musical meetings taking place.
In the near vicinity of the Culture Nest, the exhibition “Taevavõlv“ by native metalwork students is displayed in the container in the park near the main entrance to the Museum of Viljandi from Thursday to Sunday. The opening ceremony for the exhibition takes place at 17.00 on July 28.
